Lessons From A Warped Vision
BILLINGS, MONTANA - In 1 Eyed Monkey, you'll find interesting proposals,
like, imagine standing in between two mirrors, looking at your infinite
reflection, trying to convince yourself that maybe if you squinted
hard enough, you could see the final you. Ever tried that? Author
and self-proclaimed humorist Scott Bender poses this intriguing
question and provides dozens of witty answers about life and everything
under the sun in his sublimely amusing book 1Eyed Monkey (now available
through 1stBooks Library). Here, Bender pokes fun at man's little
oddities, while contemplating the intricacies of life. He provides
entertainment to the readers through his jocular observations about
man's bizarre behavior.
Bender believes that some people may be aghast at insinuations that
they are eccentric but the truth is, it is a part of who we are
and what we will become.
By Scott Bender's definition, having a good time means reading his
prose. He has good reason to recommend doing so. 1Eyed Monkey is
a wild assortment of antics and characters written down for the
reader's pleasure. It includes a variety of tales that suit one's
whim and fancy. It has clever parting shots and ideas that make
one reflect about life, fulfillment, and what it simply means to
be happy. It covers many different settings with topics as diverse
as science fiction, religion, and philosophy. The author, to elicit
readers to continue skimming through his "wonderful play land
of fantastic flamboyance", serves up funny and thought-provoking
situations.
Bender's eagerness to please his readers is manifested well in 1
Eyed Monkey. His easy-going attitude towards life may belie his
sincerity in sharing his winsome charm and talent. 1 Eyed Monkey
is a pleasurable romp through life's twists and turns. It is a testament
to the fact that man is a complicated, often misunderstood character.
Bender shows wit and profundity in exploring the deepest recesses
of man's soul.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Scott Bender probably got his
sense of humor from his father, who told him that he is the offspring
of circus clowns. Making his way to Bowling Green, Ohio, Scott attended
Bowling Green University, where he took up English and History.
He then attained genius at the University of Great Falls and eventually
legendary status at the University of Montana. He currently lives
in the mountains of Nepal.
